“The 9th Philippine Toys, Hobbies & Collectibles Convention 2010 Is a two-day event that happened on the 19th and 20th of June 2010 at Megatrade Halls 2 and 3 of SM Mega Mall. It featured DC Comics’ 75th Anniversary. Thus, most of the games were themed after the DC brand. I’m not really a DC fan but I enjoyed the day’s events. I’m more a Marvel guy. (On the picture is the stamp on my left arm.)”

“Even if I was never an action figure or toy collectible enthusiast, my eyes oogled over the tons of merchandise displayed and sold. It wasn’t the toy quantities which amazed me but more of the variety of options for various personalities to choose from and from exquisite details crafted on many displays.”

“Now for the main event. Toycon Manila 2010. I was kinda surprised with their cons there since its way different from Davao. First, we have to pay tickets for our entrance which is free in Davao. Second, the number of audience, supporters, hobbyist, cosplayers and the like are definitely 20 times more than that in Davao. There are still a lot of things that are pretty much different with how the two cities make their cons but one thing is for sure. Both cities shell out their love and passion for toys, anime, manga, games, photography and cosplay (did I miss out anything?O_O). Both show their interests and and fun in unique but sincere ways. This is probably the reason why I was able to mingle along with them somehow even though I was quite astounded with a lot of new things and experiences there.”

“It was my first time and I actually had fun looking at all the toys and the cosplayers who went to the event. Peter was enjoying himself too. He got to take a photo with one of his most favorite DC characters, Green Lantern. He was even wearing a Green lantern shirt! Maybe next year, he’ll be a cosplayer too, who knows? Teehee. ^_^”
