Just before the destruction of the planet Krypton, a scientist places his only son into a rocket and sends him to safety to grow and gain great powers on the planet Earth.

A young boy loses both his parents in a dark alley to the bullets of a deranged gunman. Through sheer discipline he hones his skills and trains his body to physical perfection.  Determined to strike terror throughout the underworld, he adopts the fearsome image of a bat.

The Queen of the Amazons creates a living daughter out of clay and the child grows into womanhood to emerge a champion in a match which will send her into the uncertainty of man’s world.

We all know their stories and grew up with their legends.  And as the years go by, their exploits and adventures further inspire and excite the imagination.  The icons of the Justice League of heroes come into a new age with the commemoration of DC Comics 75th Anniversary and there is no better place to celebrate it than at the 9th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention or simply, TOYCON for short.

The annual event is the penultimate gathering of true fans of everything related to comics, toys, pop culture, movies, cartoons, cosplay and gaming.  This year, DC Comics takes center stage with an abundance of DC character merchandising, guest artist panel and autograph-signing, fan trivia games and contests and a DC Comics 75th Year Power-Up! Superhero Challenge extreme sport area.

Also on deck for the 2-day event is the launch of the new Animax Channel, premiere toy designer Mindstyle launch of the exclusive Toycon Disney Toy Story Alien, Maxi Collector’s Otacool book signing with Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao and Star Wars Philippines Droid Hunt.

Of course, Toycon would not be complete without the biggest Cosplay event of the year with over 500 Cosplay contestants competing for the top prizes.  But the principal draw of the convention is the biggest exhibitor floor of toys, collectibles, and pop-culture memorabilia on this side of the planet.And the biggest Toy Gallery presented by various Toy  and Hobby Groups in the Philippines.

DC Comics 75th  Anniversary will be the main theme of this year’s Philippine Toy Convention to be held on June 19 and 20 at the SM Mega Trade Halls 2 and 3. Everyone is invited to come in a superhero or comic book character costume.  This year, Collectibles Unlimited Assoc. will attempt to gather the most number of people in superhero costumes in one location.

This year’s Toy Convention will include DC Comics- themed competitions and activities. DC Comics is inviting Filipino comics artists who have rendered work for DC Comics to autograph your DC Comics collectibles in the Toy Convention and Toy Kingdom, SM Megamall There will also be a special auction of  limited edition DC Comics Encyclopedias to participants who purchase DC Comics licensed products from the DC Comics booth in the Toy Convention.

As part of its 75th year celebration, DC Comics is inviting everyone to join the DC Comics 75th Year Power Up! Super Heroes Challenge this June 19 and 20 at the SM Mega Mall Events Center. The activity camp will feature extreme outdoor activities, which will be set up indoors for the first time in its scale. This Father’s Day weekend, kids and parents alike can bring out the superhero in themselves through activities such as the Tyrolean Traverse, Two-Line Tight Rope, and the Zip Line. Said set-up will be mounted through the expertise of Kampo Trexo outdoor events and edu-adventures and Event King.

The camp site will also feature a DC Comics Mini Museum where limited collection toys from, DC Comics, Toy Kingdom, collectors and fans will be on display. Comic book lovers and toy collectors can expect an array of Batman, Superman, and Justice League toys and figurines.

To Register at the DC Comics 75th Power Up! Super Heroes Challenge
Get a free DC Comics 75th Year bag tag when you buy PhP500 worth of DC Comics products from the SM Department Store Character Shop and Boys Teens Wear departments. Use this as your event pass on June 19 and 20, to register at the DC Comics 75th Year Power Up! Super Heroes Challenge in the SM Megamall Building A Events Center. One bag tag entitles one participant to go through the course once.

You may also present any Batman or Superman personal care product by Master Kids at the registration booth to claim one bag tag to use as an entry pass to the DC Comics 75th Year Power Up! Super Heroes Challenge.

This is the first team up anniversary of DC Comics and Collectibles Unlimited.
During the press briefing, a teaser was shown first conceptualizing everything from print (comics), animations, series and movies of all DC comics characters and actors/actresses.

Huge banners/backdrops of DC superheroes were displayed at the entrance and inside of the podium.

Anthony Pangilinan, hosted the event. Discussing all fun activities that will going to happen on June 19-20 for the 9th Toycon at SM Megamall. There’ll be two venues for this huge event (Yes! one at the megatrade and the other one will be at the atrium). Panelists, the Organizers of Toycon invited everybody to witness this huge gathering of all DC comics enthusiasts. Merchandises like shirts, bags, school supplies for kids will be also available at SM (do check out Toy Kingdom too).

RJ Ledesma also dropped by and proud to say that he’s a DC COMIC FAN.
